Haier India has recently launched colour television sets, digital video discs (DVDs) and home theatres, here. The firm is one of the world's largest home appliance brands. |
Pranay Dhabhai, director, Haier India, said: "We have plans to set up manufacturing facilities in India, which could be leveraged as a sourcing base for South Asia, West Asia, and Africa. Setting up a state-of-the-art R&D facility, which would focus on the development of products made for the India market only, was also earmarked in the coming months." |
The CTV range comprises 16 models, including two Plasma TV models as well as 42-inch and 46-inch sets. The DVD range includes three models and the home theatre two. |
Dhabhai said a majority of the Haier products to be marketed in India would be manufactured locally through strategic partners leveraging Haier's global standards on design, quality control, and product aesthetics. |
The Haier group, set up in 1984 in Qingdao, China, has emerged as one of the top multinationals, manufacturing a wide range of home appliances and consumer electronics products. |
