The indefinite strike called by the CITU at Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL) was called off today following an agreement between the West Bengal government, the union, the contractors and the company.
The management agreed to a 146 per cent wage revision which would be paid over the three-year term of the agreement, said a company release.
Under the pact, the workers would be categorised into four --unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled.
The strike, began four days ago, was called demanding better wages and categorisation of the 1,500-odd workers engaged in the maintenance work, which was under shutdown due to synchronisation of the expansion project called Supermax.
The company lost around Rs 40 crore due to the four-day strike.
HPL was under shutdown for 75 days which re-started last week for expansion of naphtha cracking facility.
