"The company has failed to provide free bandwidth to the several government departments as per agreement. Therefore we have invoked its bank guarantee amounting of Rs 1.5 crore," a senior official of Haryana Information Technology department said on the condition of anonymity.
However, he further said the government had not encashed the said guarantee amount.
According to the agreement signed by the state government and company, the government would not charge Reliance Communications anything for laying optical fibre cables across the state. "And in return, the company was supposed to provide free bandwidth to the government departments for successfully implementing SWAN network," he informed.
But despite reminding several times, the company could not fulfill its commitment, forcing the government to take tough stand in this regard, he said.
