With an aim to enable the youth acquire skills for gainful employment, the Haryana Tourism Corporation (HTC) has joined hands with the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) to promote the Hunar se Rozgar scheme.
While stating this on Wednesday, a spokesperson of HTC said that the corporation was the first state tourism company to become a partner with ITDC for promoting the scheme. He said that the Hunar se Rozgar initiative was launched in 2009 and had been successfully implemented at various places in the country.
ITDC, a premier implementing agency, had, till March 2012, trained 1,589 students under the scheme, exceeding the set target of 1,500 for the financial year 2011-2012.
Out of these, 740 students were trained in food and beverages service and 849 students in food production at New Delhi, Jaipur, Ranchi, Patna, Guwahati and Bhopal. For the current financial year, ITDC has set an ambitious target of providing job skills training to 5,000 youth pan-India and is confident to exceed the targets.
Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Culture Minister Kumari Selja will launch the Hunar se Rozgar in Ambala on May 4, and the first batch of 50 students would be admitted and provided training. As many as 25 students would be trained in Food and Beverage service for six weeks and 25 students would be provided training in food production trade for eight weeks.
During the training, a stipend of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 would be provided to every trainee for a training period of six weeks and eight weeks respectively upon fulfilment of 90 per cent attendance.
