Hatsun Agro Product Limited expects its dairy ingredient exports to contribute a major share of its revenue during the current year. Addressing a press conference, R G Chandramogan, managing director of the company, said that Hatsun's export turnover for the first nine months of the fiscal stands at Rs 59 crore as against last year's Rs 3.41 crore.

The company has already clocked a turnover of Rs 415 crore in the first nine months against last year's Rs 453 crore.

The company is planning to expand its production facilities to cater to dairy ingredient exports. "A new plant with a capacity of three lakh litre of milk per day is being put up at Kanchipuram. Five chilling centres also would be set up in Trichy and Salem, at an investment of Rs 14.50 crore," he added.

With this capacity expansion, Hatsun would handle around 17.5 lakh litres a day as against 12 lakh litres a day the previous year.

Exports of dairy ingredients and ice creams will be the company's major focus in the current year. Hatsun Agro has already made its presence in Seychelles by marketing its Arun Ice cream and it also exports ice creams to Brunei.

Dairy ingredients, particularly milk powder, are being exported to West Asia, South East Asia and Canada. Hatsun expects to consolidate its export position in the current year.

Hatsun Agro Product Ltd markets milk under the brand names Arokya and Komatha in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. It also markets value added products such as skimmed and whole milk powder, dairy whitener, butter, ghee and butter oil in the domestic and export markets.
