Infrastructure firm HCC today said one of its subsidiaries has bagged a contract worth Rs 800 crore from the National Highways Authority of India for the six-laning project of Vadodara-Surat section of NH-8.

The project, awarded to HCC Concessions Ltd, includes construction of a new four lane extra dosed bridge across the Narmada river in Gujarat, Hindustan Construction Company said in a statement.

"The estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs 800 crore. The concession period for the project is 12 years, including a construction period of 30 months," HCC said, adding that the project is on toll basis under the National Highways Development Programme-V. It said the project is among the final stretches to be expanded to six-lane capacity on NH-8, which connects Delhi to Mumbai.

"This will be the seventh project in HCC Concessions portfolio, which includes six other NHAI concessions -- one annuity and five toll based projects," HCC said. For the year ended March 31, 2012, HCC had posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 530.09 and net sales of Rs 8,157.63 crore.
