HCL Info profit down 13%

Information Technology solutions provider HCL Infosystems Ltd on Wednesday posted a decline of 13.47 per cent in net profit after tax at Rs 25.74 crore for the quarter ended September 30 as compared to Rs 29.75 crore for the same period last year.
 
The total income (net of excise) increased 9.14 per cent to Rs 532.36 crore for the quarter ended September 30 from Rs 487.76 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
 
The group posted a net profit after tax of Rs 67.07 crore for the quarter ended September 30 as compared with Rs 62.12 crore for the same quarter last year. The total income (net of excise) of the group increased to Rs 2,797.38 crore from Rs 2,288.58 crore a year ago.
 
The group' profit before tax was Rs 93.5 crore in the current quarter as against Rs 82 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
 
The revenue from telecommunication and office automation business rose by 26 per cent to Rs 2,254.4 crore as against Rs 1791.2 crore last year.
 
The profit before interest and taxes was Rs 62.3 crore as against Rs 47.8 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 30 per cent.
 
The revenue from its computer systems business increased by 16 per cent to Rs 563.6 crore from Rs 487.5 crore. The profit before interest and taxes was Rs 31.2 crore as against Rs 27.4 crore "" a growth of 14 per cent.
 
Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems, said, "HCL has spearheaded the penetration of digital lifestyle (distributors for DishTV, Apple iPod and Casio) and technological innovations in the country. This quarter witnessed the opening up of HCL Digilife outlets in different parts of the country (10 currently and 100 projected by the next year) in quick succession as well as adding Casio digital cameras to our rich digital lifestyle product portfolio."
 
Consolidated EPS for the quarter was Rs 3.97. The company has declared a quarterly interim dividend of Rs 2 per share. HCL, this year, attempted to reach out to the non-English speaking masses by launching an exclusive Ezeebee range of PCs.
 
On the mobile computing front, HCL launched Toshiba Satellite L30. The company also launched a new Electronic Cash Register specially aimed at assisting the small and medium business houses.
 
The ECR comes with in-built battery back-up and it speeds up the process of daily tracking of sales, inventory report, purchase report and all credit sales, thus saving a lot of time for the enterprise.
 
HCL also announced the launch of a new PC and ICT infrastructure solutions for the burgeoning Indian BPO-ITeS sector.
