Betting big on the ultrabook segment, computer maker HCL Infosystems today said it will launch three new devices in the next three months to cash in on their burgeoning demand.

"Though ultrabooks are a niche category now, but the numbers are witnessing significant growth. We expect that from about 1% share of the notebook sales, ultrabooks will grow to contribute about 10% in the next six months," HCL Infosystems Vice President and Head Consumer Computing Princy Bhatnagar told reporters here.

HCL will launch three devices in the ultrabook category in the next three months, he added.

Ultrabook is a higher-end type of notebook (laptop) as defined by Intel. They are designed to feature reduced size and weight, without compromising on performance and battery life. These use low-power Intel processors with integrated graphics and unibody chassis.

Companies like Acer, Asus, HP, Samsung and Toshiba have already introduced their ultrabooks in the Indian market.

HCL today unveiled its first ultrabook 'Ultrasmart ME Series 3074' here today, priced Rs 51,990 onwards.

It will be available in retail stores from next week onwards, while the other two will be launched in the next two months.

The Series 3074, powered by the third generation of Intel Core i3 processors, is sleek (less than 18mm with metal casing) and come with a 39-month warranty. It has 4 GB RAM (upgradeable to 8 GB), internal hard disk storage - 32 GB, 1.3 MP VGA camera, bluetooth and integrated Wi-fi capabilities.

The company has also launched a new marketing campaign focussed on print and digital media for the ultrabooks, featuring brand ambassador Nargis Fakhri.

Bhatnagar, however, declined to comment on the marketing budget.
