The country's second-largest private lender HDFC Bank today said its net profit jumped by 31.49% year-on-year to Rs 1,199.35 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2011.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 912.14 crore for the July-September period of 2010.
HDFC Bank's total income for the quarter ended September, 2011, stood at Rs 7,929.38 crore, as against Rs 5,770.70 crore in the same period a year ago, the bank said in a filing to the BSE.
During the first six months of 2011-12, the bank clocked a 32.51% rise in net profit to Rs 2,284.33 crore, compared to Rs 1,723.85 crore in the same period a year ago.
The bank reported a total income of Rs 15,027.38 crore for the first six months of FY12, as against Rs 11,181.27 crore for the April-September, 2010-11, period.
Shares of HDFC Bank were up by 2.71% at Rs 489.70 apiece in late afternoon trade on the BSE.
