Zodhita Inc, a US-based healthcare and cosmetic products startup, is set to enter the over Rs 9,000-crore personalcare products market in India shortly.
Zodhita has already started its Indian subsidiary, Zodhita Health Solutions Private Limited, in Mumbai in 2008 and is on course to launch four products – antiperspirant deodorant for men and women in the spray and stick format and antiperspirant deodorant foot spray and deodorant soaps.
“Our idea is to create a new category which doesn’t exist in India now. To start with, we will be launching the products in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad this October, followed by rollouts in all major metros,” Vidya Vepuri, founder-director of Zodhita told mediapersons here on Monday.
She said the company will be investing Rs 20 crore, which it had raised through five investors in the US, in penetrating the Indian market with its products. “We expect to achieve break even in the next two years,” she said.
The company, which is currently working in collaboration with a US-based pharmaceutical company that provides research and development and manufacturing services, plans to import the products and sell them in India by entering into tie ups with carry and forward agents, distributors and modern retail players, she added.
