Heritage back in black; posts profit of Rs 5.5 cr in FY10

Heritage Foods India Ltd today said it has earned a consolidated net profit of Rs 5.5 crore for the 2009-10 fiscal, owing to strong performance of its dairy business.

However, the company had a net loss of Rs 35.72 crore in the year-ago period.

Net sales have increased by 13 per cent to Rs 900.38 crore in FY'10 compared to Rs 796.02 crore in the previous fiscal, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The firm has announced a dividend for the year ended March 31, 2010, at Rs 1.80 per share on equity shares of value of Rs 10 each.

The Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods India is involved in dairy, retail and agri businesses.

In the dairy segment, the company earned a profit of Rs 65.06 crore in FY'10 against Rs 39.24 crore in the previous fiscal.

The company's shares were trading 4.04 per cent lower at Rs 168.70 on the BSE in late afternoon trade.
