Hero Group has applied for a name change from Hero Honda to Hero Moto, as per information from the sources, said a television channel today.
The brands under the group will remain unchanged.
The Hero group in December, 2010 had split from its 20-year old joint venture partner Honda group with the Munjals now owning Honda's 26% stake in the already split joint venture.
The name change process is likely to consume an expected period of about two months, according to the television channel sources.
