Computer hardware major Hewlett-Packard (H-P) retained its dominance in the personal computer market in the country cornering about 14.5 per cent market share in the second quarter of 2004. |
H-P shipped about 1,15,911 units of desktops and notebooks during the quarter, a company release quoting International Data Corporation's figures said. |

We will continue to enhance our offerings as a part of this initiative," said Ravi Swaminathan, vice-president, personal systems group, H-P India Pvt Ltd. |

In the overall desktop market, H-P cornered about 13.3 per cent market share in unit terms and 18 per cent in value terms. |

It shipped 1,01,059 desktops during the second quarter. |

In the commercial desktop market, H-P accounted for 14.1 per cent market share with 70,213 units shipped during the quarter. |

In the consumer desktop segment, it cornered about 12 per cent market share with 30,846 units shipped. |

The company also accounted for 34.4 per cent market share of the notebook market, selling 14,852 units during the quarter. |

In the branded workstation market in India, H-P again led the pack with a 44.6 per cent unit market share in the second quarter of 2004, shipping about 2,225 units of branded workstations. |
