Kolkata-based Hind Silicates Pvt Limited (HSPL) could form a joint venture in the near future with Cemkrete Company Limited (CCL) of Thailand for construction products.

The two signed a Memorandum of Understanding recently.

HSPL would tap CCL to import and market construction products reportedly not available in the Indian market or were excessively priced now, claimed Sanjay Goenka, managing director of HSPL. The list included nanolitheum and polyurethene flooring, currently not available in the domestic market, he claimed.

However, the company was not looking at selling these products to small buyers but would sell to big construction companies for big structures.

The MoU would allow HSPL to directly import some CCL products for sale under its own brand or import raw materials for blending at the HSPL factory in Kolkata and sale under the HSPL brand. HSPL currently had production capacity of around 15 ton per day at its production unit of 40000 square feet in the Jalan Industrial Complex in Howrah. HSPL had open land for capacity expansion in future for the JV, said Goenka.

The company recorded a net turnover of Rs 10.6 crore last year and expected 200 percent growth after this MoU, said Goenka.

The infrastructure and realty boom meant huge scope for growth as these infrastructure projects needed products ensuring durability and quality technology.
