The Hinduja group would achieve financial closure for the 1,040 Mw power project being set up at Visakhapatnam by October 2009.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy discussed the status of the project with Hinduja Power Project co-chairman Ashok Hinduja and managing director Ashokpuri on Wednesday.
The company has obtained environmental clearance and coal linkage from the Mahanandi coalfields has been restored, according to a release from the chief minister’s office.
The Hinduja group is reviving its power project, which was conceived in the early 90s. The project failed to take off on account of cost issues with the state government.
