Kolkata's Hotel Hindustan International (HHI) chain will set up hotels in Mumbai and Bangalore and thereafter in Goa.

HHI has acquired land in Mumbai for a green field project near Andheri, around 2km from the international airport, said D K Jaiswal, chairman and managing director (CMD) of HHI.

The area of the planned three star hotel in Mumbai would be around 70,000 square feet with 120 plus rooms. The amount of investment would be around Rs140 crore. HHI has acquired a half-constructed hotel in Bangalore and will complete inaugurate it within six months.

This project would match the Mumbai hotel in room capacity and investment, said Jaiswal. The Goa project expected to receive necessary clearances from government soon, added Jaiswal.

In addition, HHI is renovating its Kolkata hotel.

"The renovation would be completed in two phases - the first phase to be competed within January, 2005 with an investment of Rs 6-7 crore and the second phase would begin after March 2005 and the investment would be Rs 5-6 crore", said Jaiswal.

HHI has set a target of increasing the average room revenue (ARR) per day to Rs 4500 by next year from the current figure of around Rs 3000, informed Jaiswal.

Jaiswal said HHI expected a 40 per cent rise in turnover this year from last year's figure of around Rs 18 crore."HHI has already crossed last year's figure by around 20 per cent and the peak season is ahead. Next year a 50 per cent growth in revenue is expected", said Jaiswal. HHI will be investing Rs 2.5 for refurbishing its hotel in Varanasi, currently its second hotel.
