Hindustan Unilever to raise prices of tea

Buckling under the pressure of inflation, fast moving consumer goods major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has said it would soon raise the prices of its tea brands.

The company, so far, could absorb the effects of inflation due to its blending techniques and pricing strategies, said HUL executive director (Foods) Shrijeet Mishra without specifying when the new prices would come into effect and by how much.

Tea and coffee account for two-third of HUL foods division's revenues.

The domestic tea market, both organised and unorganised, is estimated to be Rs 10,000 crore of which HUL has a share of 22 per cent in value terms.

On Monday, the company, in association with Apollo Hospitals, launched Amaze, Apollo School Wellbeing Programme, a health assessment event which would cover 200 schools in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and contact 100,000 students.

HUL had launched Kissan Amaze brainfood early this year.
