Hindustan Zinc, the country's largest producer of metals, has increased the prices of lead by more than Rs 10,000 a tonne in past 15 days.
Lead would now cost Rs 1,07,800 a tonne, compared to Rs 96,000 per tonne two weeks ago.
Increased prices of lead are likely to put pressure on rates of galvanised steel, alloys, batteries, rubber and paint in which it is used as an input material.
The metal producer, according to its circular on its website, raised the lead prices by Rs 4,200 per tonne on July 26, two days after increasing the prices by Rs 7,100 per tonne.
