Hitachi consortium bags Rs 2,390 crore DFC contract

A consortium led by Japanese firm Hitachi has bagged a Rs 2,390 crore contract from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) for supply and installation of signalling and telecommunication systems between Delhi and Mumbai corridor.

The consortium has signed two contracts -- Design and construction of signalling and Telecom works worth Rs 1,780 crore for 915 km route between Rewari and Vadodara and Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) works on Western DFC worth Rs 610 crore for 1,370 km route between Rewari and JNPT (Mumbai).

The contracts were signed with Hitachi Limited as the lead partner and Mitsui, Texmaco and Hitachi India Ltd as others.

DFCC, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is carrying out planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the dedicated freight corridors. It is building two corridors Eastern DFC from Ludhiana to Dankuni (1,840 km) and Western DFC from Dadri to JNPT (1,502 km).

The entire Western Corridor is being funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
