Hitachi eyes 15 % market share by 2015

Hitachi Home & Life Solutions (India) Ltd, one of the leading players in the air conditioning market in the country, aims to capture 15 per cent market share by 2015.

"Presently, we have seven per cent market share in volume terms and 10 per cent share in value terms in the country. We want to take our share to 10 per cent by the end of 2011-12 and 15 per cent by 2015. The company will also launch its eco-friendly range of air-conditioners (ACs) in 2012”, Gurmeet Singh, vice president (sales and business planning) told mediapersons here.

Hitachi has a market share of 17 per cent in the country in central air-conditioning while it is the market leader in the telecom tower air conditioning with a share of 35 per cent.

The company has a presence in 236 towns in the country and plans to expand its presence to 317 towns by the end of 2011-12. It has over 350 service centres out of which 33 are company owned, having 1200 trained service technicians.

It has two manufacturing facilities in India at Kadi (Gujarat) and Jammu with a combined capacity of about four lakh units.

In the eastern region, Hitachi aims to sell around four lakh ACs in 2011-12 which includes 4000 units in Orissa. The company has a share of 11 per cent in the eastern region.
