“The tripartite meet did not take place as scheduled as the management failed to send a senior level executive who can take decisions,” Labour Secretary Amol Roy Chowdhury told PTI. Representatives of all the six trade unions of the closed Uttarpara plant had come for the meeting, he added.
The company was represented by its HR manager as the CEO expressed his inability to attend the meeting due to a prior engagement with bankers, Chowdhury said.
The next date for the tripartite meeting has been fixed for June 17. In May, the company had announced suspension of work at the Uttarpara plant that produces iconic Ambassador car, following which the company had terminated 240 managerial staff earlier this month.
