A recent Time magazine issue states that "Leonardo DiCaprio's career rises to new heights in (Martin) Scorsese's The Aviator."

And for all the Scorsese's and DiCaprio fans in India, there is a piece of good news. The film will be released in India "" Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai ""- on February 18.

Sanjeev Kumar, director at PVR Pictures Ltd says that The Aviator is not the only big film that the company's lined up for February. Marc Forster's Finding Neverland will hit cinema screens earlier. The film features Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Dustin Hoffman and Julie Christie.

The Aviator, however, is the bigger bet for the company. Says Kamal Gyanchandani, vice president, PVR Pictures: "It's a big canvas, big sets, big star film that is getting rave reviews. It should be a commercial success." He expects 2.5 lakh people to watch the film in the first week.

PVR Pictures, set up four years ago as the distribution arm of the Rs 110 crore PVR Ltd, has an exciting film line-up for the rest of the year as well.

Among them are An Unfinished Life, Running Scarred, Man About Town and Accidental Husband. Kumar hopes the Rs 5 crore distribution business to grow by about 20 per cent.

PVR set up the distribution division as many small independent producers were not represented in India though they did good films, while the major studios like Paramount, Warner Brothers and Columbia were present in full force. PVR tied up with companies such as Miramax, IEG, KMI, Intermedia and Media 8 to bring their films.

For English film distribution to grow Kumar says "more multiplexing is required in cities like Chennai and Ludhiana. There is a market for English films in Punjab and Haryana but there's no supply."

Last year, the company joined hands with Varma Corporation and K Sera Sera to distribute their films in Delhi and UP. It released Gayab, Vaastu Shastra and Naach in this market.

In 2005, PVR will add 28 screens to its existing 36. "Our film distribution business will acquire scale once we can grow our screens to 150," says Kumar.
