Bengaluru-based home automation solutions provider Silvan Innovation Labs has raised Rs 6 crore in funding from Infuse Ventures, while also announcing it enters into the consumer market with five smart home devices.

The devices, which were developed over a period of two years, will allow the company to cater to the market of existing homeowners who are looking to add automation to their homes. Silvan says that the market for such products is being pushed by millennials that are for the first time buying homes.

"Having worked with the biggest names in the real estate industry, we understand that any offering has to get down to basics and offer solutions which really matter to customers. This philosophy is emphasized in our core value of simplicity, both in our products and our processes," said Avinash K Gautam, founder and CEO of Silvan, in a statement.

Silvan says the market for home automation is estimated to be larger than Rs 8,000 crore and is growing at CAGR 25 per cent. Gautam said that he believes with the way smartphone and other use of technology is growing, solutions such as the ones Silvan is building will become a necessity.

"It is encouraging to see that in a short span of six months, the company has been able to draw upon its deep business-to-business (B2B) experience in this space and build a sleek suite of desirable consumer products," said Shyam Menon, Co-Founder and Investment Director at Infuse Ventures.

The company, which currently works with real estate developers such as Total Environment, Tata Housing, Shobha and Prestige, says its solution has already been implemented in 2,000 homes. Moreover, the company is looking to build a consortium of partners to build devices that run on its platform, in order to not restrict customer choice.

Moreover, the company says its platform will be compatible with offerings from large tech players such as Google, Apple and Microsoft, making it easier for customers to control lights, shades, door locks and other aspects of their homes using voice commands on their smartphones.
