This is part of its precautionary global recall concerning Takata front airbag inflators. The replacement will be free of cost, at Honda dealerships across the country, in a phased manner.
That for the CR-V and Civic will begin immediately. Replacement of inflators for the other affected models would begin from September. We will communicate with customers directly, Honda said.

In addition to 137,270 units of the City, the company is recalling 22,483 units of the Accord, 15,706 of the Jazz and 13,603 of the Civic. And, 1,500 of the CR-V. All these were manufactured between 2003 and 2011. Customers can check if their cars are covered via a micro site which has been created on the company’s website.
In February, the company recalled 57,676 vehicles, mostly the City, to replace driver-side airbag inflators. In September last year, it had announced its biggest recall in India, to replace airbag inflators in 223,578 units of the City, Civic, Jazz, and CR-V, made between 2003 and 2011. Globally, Honda Motor is recalling millions of vehicles to solve the airbag inflator problem.
India does not have a mandatory recall policy for vehicles. A little over 2.4 million passenger vehicles have been recalled in the country since July 2012, when the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers announced a voluntary recall code for member companies.
