The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has recorded a turnover of Rs 30 crore by October-end this year.

"This is Rs 6 crore higher than the corresponding period last year, amounting to increase in 26 per cent," said a spokesman of the HPTDC.

Explaining the reasons for the rise, the spokesman said this happened because of a rise of 10 per cent occupancy in our hotels and restaurants.

"The operational profit of HPTDC is of Rs 6.46 crore, reflecting an increase of around 60 per cent during this period," he added.

"Several steps have been taken by the HPTDC to attract both domestic and foreign tourists""strengthening its marketing and publicity network. The highlight has been on online booking of HPTDC properties, which was introduced earlier this year," the spokesman said.

The state-run HPTDC has over 50 hotel properties in several resort towns of Himachal Pradesh. They face stiff competition from private players who are much larger in number.
