HT Media Q1 net profit at Rs 32 cr

HT Media today reported a net profit of Rs 32.40 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2009, as compared to Rs 37.72 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Total income rose to Rs 335.06 crore during the April-June quarter, from Rs 327.24 crore in the year-ago period, HT Media said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The results of the June quarter also include the revenues of radio business which has been demerged from HT Music and Entertainment Company and vested into HTML. Hence, the results of the quarter are not comparable with the last fiscal.

The company has demerged its radio business, known for its FM channel Fever 104, from its subsidiary and merged into itself.

During the quarter the firm's revenue from printing and publishing business fell marginally to Rs 326.23 crore from Rs 327.24 crore in the same period last fiscal. While the revenue from radio broadcast business was Rs 8.83 crore.

Founded in 1924, HT Media operates 19 printing facilities across India. Besides Hindustan Times and Hindustan, the company also publishes Mint, while it also has presence in electronic media through its subsidiary HT Music and Entertainment Company.

Shares of HT Media closed at Rs 113.05, up 4.82 per cent on the BSE.
