Hindustan Unilever has reported a decline of 1.8% in the net profit to Rs 533.21 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010 as compared to Rs 543.19 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.
In the same period, total income has increased 8.4% to 4,918.34 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. from Rs 4,536.17 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 .
According to a company release, during the quarter, net sales grew 7.1 per cent with domestic consumer business growing at 8 per cent, driven by sustained double digit volume growth of 11 per cent.
"Despite an intensely competitive environment, we have sustained double-digit volume growth. We continue to invest fully to defend our strong leadership positions and build competitive growth momentum through bigger and better innovations," said chairman Harish Manwani.
Shares of HUL were trading marginally lower at Rs 261.30 during the morning session.
