Hyd Metro shortlists consortia for independent engineer

A high-powered commitee has prequalified six consortia/firms as eligible to participate in the request for proposal (RFP) stage for appointment of independent engineer for the Hyderabad metro rail project.

Those shortlisted from the 17 applications are: Aecom Asia (Hong Kong) and Aarvee Associates (Hyderabad); Italferr SpA. (Italy) and Sai Consulting Engineers (Ahmedabad); Louis Berger (Indian outfit of US company); Mott MacDonald (Indian outfit of UK company); Parsons Brinckerhoff (Indian outfit of US company) and UMTC (New Delhi) and Scott Wilson (UK) and Scott Wilson India.

The committee comprised finance secretary T Satyanarayana Rao, metro rail managing director NVS Reddy and Hyderabad Metro Water Board managing director M Jagadeeshwar,

The independent engineer will be a well-experienced body of experts in structural engineering, track, rolling stock (coaches), station planning, train operations, construction safety engineering, signalling, telecommunications, electric traction among others.

In the RFP stage, the prequalified firms will have to indicate the names of 21 experts who will work on the project for the next 5 years. Depending on the expertise and experience profile, their technical bids will be evaluated for 80 marks and financial bids will be given a weight of 20 marks.

Based on the combined score, one consortium/firm will be selected as the independent engineer, which will check the designs and drawings submitted by the concessionaire. They will inspect and monitor the quality of construction works, test coaches and various other components of the metro rail system, a release said.
