Lookup, a free messaging app that connects local businesses with consumers has partnered with Twitter to announce the launch of @lookuplite.
Using Twitter's platform for live, public conversations, users can now tweet their requests for booking appointments, ordering food or enquiring about products to @lookuplite. These tweets will be monitored by Lookup and responses will be sent within minutes.
The technical integration will include a Twitter account @lookuplite to answer people’s queries. Whenever users Tweet their request, they will get a reply through a mention on Twitter. Direct Message to @lookuplite can also be sent for private inquiries.
“Our idea is to make Lookup ubiquitous," said Deepak Ravindran, Co- founder and CEO of Lookup. He added that Twitter's real-time communications platform could not be skipped for Lookup's on-demand local commerce service.
“We are always looking to provide better accessibility for our users and to help them be more productive with Twitter. With Lookup on board, millions of Indians in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Pune can now order home delivery, make reservations, book appointments, get information on store deals, and much more done, one Tweet at a time,” said Ravi Bhaskaran, Twitter’s Head of Business Development for India and South Asia.
Twitter's partnership will provide Lookup a larger social establishment. It will also help people to get things done with a message in a more convenient and easily procurable way.
In October this year, Lookup raised $2.5 million in a Series-A round of funding which saw participation from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.
