Korean car maker, Hyundai Motor India today said that it has increased the production at it's plant based in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai by 40 per cent mainly to satisfy the demand of the i10 model.

The plant, which started operations in February and is largely dedicated to the production of the i10, will start its third shift thereby hiking the daily production to 1,300 units from 800 units currently.

H S Lheem, managing director, Hyundai Motor India, said, "The i10 has been breaking all grounds in terms of demand, within the country as well as in the export market. The introduction of the new shift will make us meet those demands and help us capture a bigger share of the market."

The rise in production will help the company increase its export destinations to 95 countries by the end of this year, added a company release.
