The country's second largest carmaker Hyundai Motor India today reported a jump of 28.11 per cent in its domestic sales for April 2010 at 28,501 units.
The company had sold 22,247 units in the domestic market in April 2009, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement.
The company's total sales soared by 17.24 per cent at 52,020 units as against 44,370 units in the year-ago period.
Exports of the company grew 6.31 per cent to 23,519 units from 22,123 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
"HMIL's positive performance is a reflection of its strong product portfolio. The recently launched refurbished i20 has further strengthened its position, as it has received a tremendous response from the market and has become the growth driver for the segment," HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said.
The company expects a continuous rise in demand for the i20, he added.
In its A2 segment (Santro, i10, i20 and Getz Prime), the company sold 46,059 units, while in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) sales were at 5,944 units.
The A5 segment (Sonata Transform) of HMIL witnessed sales of 17 units, while its SUV Tucson received no buyer during the month.
