As CMD, Mukesh says he's the final authority in the group.

Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D Ambani today said he was the "final authority on all matters concerning Reliance".

This follows his press statement on Monday which said there was no ownership issue in the company, as group patriarch Dhirubhai Ambani had settled all ownership issues regarding Reliance during his lifetime.

In an e-mail sent to the Reliance group's 80,000 employees, Mukesh Ambani said: "There is no ambiguity in his (Dhirubhai's) legacy that the chairman and managing director is the final authority on all matters concerning Reliance," adding, "there is no question of any effect on the integrity of Reliance."

On Monday, he had said in a statement that his remarks made to a television reporter were "torn out of context". Today he urged the employees "to go beyond issues that are distorted out of context and continue to work diligently and purposefully as you have always done before".

He said the objective of the e-mail was to address all Reliance employees in order to present the correct perspectives.

Today's e-mail repeated his media statement on Monday on the separation of management control and ownership in Reliance. "Our founder chairman Dhirubhai Ambani had taken all necessary steps to separate ownership from management and has settled all of them within his lifetime," his e-mail said.

"No comment from any quarter of the media or society can take away the performance that the 80,000-strong employees of Reliance have delivered and won worldwide acclaim. The best way in which such aspersions on the professional management of Reliance can be addressed is through renewed efforts to achieve the goals that we have set out for our company," he added.
