Pune-based International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT), set up by the 2,500 crore Finolex Group, is planning a 100-acre residential campus completely dedicated to masters degrees in the next two years.The institute is ramping up to reach the 2,000-student mark in 2007 by expanding its present campus at the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech park in Hinjewadi. It has also acquired 100 acres of land close to its original campus and plans to begin construction here early next year.I2IT currently has a 12-acre campus within the park which will reach full capacity utilisation in 2007. "We currently have an intake of 1,000 students and are constructing a 2,40,000 sq feet academic space and residential facilities for 1,000 more students at our present campus. By December this year we will have created capacities for intake of 500 students and in 2007 we will complete this project with additional intake of 500 students," Aruna Katara, executive chair of I2IT, said.The 2,40,000 sq ft academic campus also includes plans for a distance learning centre, virtual reality lab and an incubation centre which will be operational by the end of the year. "The incubation centre will be the largest in India with infrastructure to support 20 companies," Prof Krishna Moorthy, director of I2IT, said.
