Technology giant IBM today said it has added a new social networking tool 'MydeveloperWorks' on its website to help software developers work together on open standards-based innovations.
MydeveloperWorks brings social networking attributes into a single view for users, enabling them to build online relationships to create new groups, comment on and share content, build skills and grow a worldwide network of peers to drive innovation, IBM said in a statement.
Users can customise their profile to include contacts, preferred content, real time feeds from forums, blogs and wikis.
In the coming months, MydeveloperWorks users will also be able to tap their social networking profiles on sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, to expand their professional networks and collaborate on new technologies, it added.
Launched in 1999, developerWorks currently has an estimated 8 million IT professionals as its users globally and helps developers access a variety of IT resources scattered across the web.
"Developers can use this capability to get recognised by the global IT community and more easily find technical resources they need to succeed in their field," IBM India Country Manager (Academic Initiative-Developer Works and Globalisation) Himanshu Goyal said.
