Private general insurer ICICI Lombard General Insurance on Thursday announced the launch of an Outpatient Department (OPD) health insurance offering, 'i-Health Cashless OPD'.
OPD comprises the largest segment of health care expenses in India, amounting to 60 per cent. The balance 40 per cent is constituted by Inpatient Department (IPD) or hospitalisation costs. A majority of the expense on OPD remains uninsured, resulting in out-of-pocket spending.
The new offering available through ICICI Lombard’s ‘i-Health Cashless OPD’ is designed to provide real time and hassle-free cashless outpatient services to customers.
Sanjay Datta, Chief (Underwriting & Claims), ICICI Lombard said that the OPD segment, despite comprising 60 per cent of healthcare expenses, faced a dearth of relevant insurance offerings.
This health card offers immediate access to OPD benefits and can be availed at the 75 plus OPD clinics across the seven metros. In the initial phase, it would be available only on the group platform, but would later be extended to individuals. Further, there is no co-pay, sub-limit or deduction on consultation: Customers can avail consultation without any charges multiple times in a year depending on the plan availed.
The i-Health card enables the customer to avail the facility at major locations. To enhance the reach, ICICI Lombard is launching OPD on Home Visit and e-consultation. The customer would be offered the choice of doctor from renowned hospitals for the e-consultation . The premiums for this product start at Rs 120 per annum.
The insurer has also tied-up with various healthcare and wellness service providers to offer its customers special deals from Titan eye plus, Vasan eye care, SRL, Metropolis, Medplus Pharmacy among others.
