 "IIT-Hyderabad launches healthcare innovation centre")
Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has launched a Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CHE) to accelerate industry-oriented innovations in the sector.
Promoted by IIT-Bombay alumni Rajesh Mashruwala and Avi Nash, the centre would train entrepreneurs to deliver cost-efficient solutions that can be commercialised in the healthcare market.
Launching the centre here Thursday, Telangana IT and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao said the initiative was in line with his government's focus on healthcare and technology sectors.
The Telangana government has initiated digitisation of health records of its 36 million citizens and a pilot is on in chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's constituency of Gajwel.
"The integrated database will be available for both government and private hospitals. The health records can be accessed by a unique ID or Aadhaar number. The whole data will be put in cloud so that anybody can access it," he said.
A gaming and animation centre at the recently opened T-Hub would also be launched on Dec 5, he said, adding plans were to have an aerospace incubation centre as well. "The state is mulling a technology incubation fund in the next Budget to promote entrepreneurship," he said.
IIT Hyderabad director U B Desai said the centre would take the ideas and innovation originating from CHE to market.
