IKEA India CEO meets Hooda, gets backing

Hooda gave the assurance to Maeztu in a meeting for full support

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has offered full support of the state government to IKEA, the Swedish furniture retailer company to set up their venture in the state.

According to a press communication by the Haryana government, the chief executive officer of IKEA Services India Private Limited, Juvenicio Maeztu in a meeting on Friday urged the chief minister to provide adequate land preferably in the national capital region (NCR) to set up their venture which included retail, factory and warehouse, as NCR being close to the national capital, has better connectivity to highways and easy access to metro service

Hooda gave the assurance to Maeztu in a meeting for full support.

Hooda said Haryana was the first state to support foreign direct investment (FDI) and it has become the first choice of various multinational companies to set up their ventures owing to its industrial friendly policies.

Maeztu said IKEA designs and sells ready to assemble furniture such as beds, chairs, and desks and is keen to establish stores of big volume products of home furnishing in Haryana.

He said the company wants to concentrate on fewer states in India, Haryana being one of them.

Presently the company is dealing with home furnishing appliances, but in the near future, it would also explore the possibilities in the textile retail business also, he maintained.
