iMBiz India, the Indian arm floated by Australia-based Imbiz Pty, is looking at a total of at least nine tie-ups to bring Australian brands in India. Already, the company is importing Australian dairy brands, Bega cheese and Pauls Zymil easy to digest milk in Kolkata and would soon make them available in other cities.
Debraj Sanyal, director of iMBiz India, said, the company is importing all products from Australia and has appointed five distributors in Kolkata and one large distributor for North-East. “The brands will be initially available in eastern and northeastern India, followed by launches in northern, southern and western India,” Sanyal said.
Bega is Australia’s largest cheese brand with revenues in excess of $460 million as of 2008. Bega’s variants launched by Imbiz includes natural cheddar cheese, bega super slim, reduced fat cheddar cheese, and others. Pauls Zymil is an easy to digest milk. Sanyal said though the imported products would cost more than the local products, the costs would be much lower than similar imported products available in the market.
“We are hopeful that we will be able to achieve 4-5 percent of the dairy market share by the end of 2009-10 with these launches,” Sanyal added. iMBiz is also planning to launch two Australian fruit juice brands in India by February-March 2010 and a flavoured milk product by November 2009.
