India Cements, GTL Infra, Voltas Q3 results

India Cements, a leading cement manufacturer in southern India, has posted a ten-fold increase in net profit at Rs 79.78 crore (up 1005 per cent) in the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 7.22 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.
 
Net sales for the quarter increased to Rs 472.41 crore against Rs 346.63 crore during the period, up 36.29 per cent. Operating profit during the quarter was reported at Rs 134.76 crore, up 167.38 per cent, from Rs 50.4 crore posted in the previous corresponding quarter. Earning per share (EPS) was Rs 3.58 against Rs 0.36 last year.
 
GTL Infra net at Rs 7.16 crore
 
GTL Infrastructure has posted a net profit of Rs 7.16 crore on revenues of Rs 16.91 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2006, its first results after listing on November 9, 2006.
 
The company's EBITDA during the reporting quarter stood at Rs 13.51 crore (79.89 per cent of revenues), while other income stood at Rs 7.07 crore. It incurred a cost of Rs 1.78 core on employees and Rs 1.45 crore on administration, the company said in a release here today.
 
Voltas net rises to Rs 19.43 crore
 
Voltas today announced 30 per cent increase in sales for the quarter ended December 2006. While income from operations were Rs 580.86 crore as against Rs 447.09 crore in the same period last fiscal.
 
Net profit was Rs 19.43 crore compared with Rs 11.36 crore in the year-ago quarter, despite a much higher tax charge of Rs 13.58 crore (Rs 3.68 crore last fiscal).
 
The unitary cooling products for comfort and commercial use segment registered a revenue growth of 26 per cent, while the air conditioner business grew by 39 per cent in volume. Water coolers and dispensers grew by 54 per cent in volume.
