India Inc continues to support Tata

Even as the Tata Motors suspended its work at the Singur project to make the Nano car in West Bengal, support from the India inc continue to pour in for the Tatas.

Another prominent car manufacturer of the country, Mahindra and Mahindra, today came out in support of Tata Motors’ Nano project at Singur.

"It is unfortunate that a project of such nature has been forced to consider to exit the location," M&M President (Automotive) Pawan Goenka said on the sidelines of a convention here.

"It doesn't augar well for industrialisation," he said. A few days ago, Reliance Industries head Mukesh Ambani also came out in support of the Tata project which is currently facing hostile political situation from the main opposition party of the state, Trinamul Congress.

Asked on what could be the impact of Tata’s withdrawal on global investments in India, Goenka said, "I am not sure if one project could have such an implication."

The governor of West Bengal, meanwhile, has started discussions with the Trinamul Congress to end this deadlock at Singur.
