The Indian corporate sector is raising funds from the long-term dollar bond markets in a big way. In the current calendar year alone, Indian companies have raised $4.6 billion from these markets by taking advantage of the low interest rate prevailing overseas and foreign investors' appetite to lock into longer-term debt issues with stable returns. In calendar 2020, Indian companies had raised $3 billion and in 2019, they had raised $4 billion.

The Adani group is raising funds on a regular basis from the overseas markets with longer term maturities. On Tuesday,  Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd successfully priced a $750 million senior unsecured USD notes issuance with 20 years and 10.5 years tranches at a fixed coupon of 5 per cent and 3.8 per cent respectively. The issuances were closed on July 26, 2021 and were oversubscribed by over three times.
