India to get Daikin air-conditioning R&D centre

Daikin Air-conditioning India (Pvt) Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd Japan, is looking at setting up a research and development (R&D) centre in India to develop products tailored to each of the emerging markets, under its upcoming five-year business plan. Besides, it also has plans to expand its National Dealership Network to 1,000 from the current 600 plus and also develop 200 Daikin Solution Plazas across the country over the next 12 months.

This year the company is targeting to sell nearly 120,000 units in the domestic market. Meanwhile, the company launched an innovative range of 20 new products across residential, light commercial and commercial segments. The company claims, the newly launched products offers lower cost of ownership, unmatched quality and durability.

Daikin Air-conditioning India Managing Director Kanwal Jeet Jawa said, “I am extremely delighted to launch the fresh range of diverse products. At Daikin India, innovation is an everyday mission. This year, we are taking yet another bold step by upgrading the star label of complete FTE series to three-star and FTG series to five-star rating”. The company plans to get aggressive in the Indian market by opening multiple Daikin Solution Plazas while strengthening dealer network.

India’s air-conditioning market is estimated to grow at 20-25 per cent. Daikin, India’s No. 1 VRV brand aims at increasing its market share by 15 per cent over the next three years.
