Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported 42.01 per cent increase in its total sales in April at 24,960 units.

The company had sold 17,576 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.

The domestic sales rose by 11.51 per cent to 16,861 units in April 2010 from 15,120 units in the same month last year, it added.

During last month, the company exported 8,099 units as against 2,456 units in the year-ago period, a jump of over two-fold.

"Our product line-up and improving consumer sentiments amid a pick-up in overall economic activity have helped us grow our sales consistently in domestic as well as export markets," India Yamaha Motor Director and Chief Sales Officer Koji Arai said.

He said the recent product launches, including the entry level YBR 110 and the refreshed FZ16 and FZ-S in the deluxe segment, will further lift the sales in the coming months.
