IndiaAutomobile to add bikes to its portfolio

IndiaAutomobile, an online portal of the BharatMatrimony group, promoted as a hub for car sales and purchases, will soon reach out to customers interested in buying and selling motorcycles.
 
The group expects to showcase motorbikes on its automobile portal by next month, according to Murugavel Janakiraman, chief executive officer, BharatMatrimony Group.
 
With a view to boosting the portal's business, the BharatMatrimony group has roped in racing champion Karun Chandhok as brand ambassador. The new initiative is part of the company's marketing strategy to reach out to more customers through the automobile portal.
 
"As brand ambassador of IndiaAutomobile, I will have an interactive relationship with all members of this portal. There will be regular contributions from my side to ratings and reviews of cars, regular updates on various racing tournaments and of upcoming players in motorsports. It will also include Q&A sessions and the aim is to get more people interested in motorsports through this portal," Chandhok said.
 
Commenting on the portal, Murugavel said the website received 25 million visitors and 450 million page views per month. The website received around 5,000 requests from car buyers in the last month alone, he claimed.
 
"Around 17 per cent of US online adspends come from the automobile sector and according to a study, around 70 per cent of the people use the Web as a research tool before buying a car. These trends are expected to be replicated in India soon and we wish to tap the enormous opportunities in this sector through our website," Murugavel added.
