Indian Airlines (IA) is expecting a Rs 60 crore increase in its fuel costs in the next six months, thanks to the recent 10 per cent increase in prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF).

Senior IA officials said that for October alone, the airlines has incurred an additional expense of nearly Rs 6 crore.

The airline estimates that its fuel bill would touch Rs 1,300 crore for 2002-2003 because of the hike.

The airline has approached the Central government to intervene in the issue.
