With an aim to promote investment in the US, the Indian Chamber of Commerce, a US-level Chamber headquartered in Minneapolis, USA is planning to come up with global village in Minnesota.
Seann Nelipinath, president and director, Indian Chamber of Commerce maintained the pilot global village coming at Minnesota was a concept to help US attract investments from countries across the world.
The first phase of the global village coming at Minnesota spread across 100 acres of land and envisaging investment of $150-200 million is expected to be ready in three years.
“We are expecting 40-45 per cent occupancy in the first phase which is likely to be completed in next three years after which work would commence on second and third phase. The Global Village would offer benefits to businesses like tax breaks and environment for businesses to operate globally.”
The project is now in the concept Stage with four quadrants that would serve as manufacturing and assembly units for partners that would expand beyond the Indian community. There would be multi storey ancillary and business buildings with floors designated for states/corporations of India as well as other investment nations to display their projects and products in Minnesota.
To promote the Global village across India, the chamber was organising road shows where investors would be attracted to share more information.
Seann Nelipinath added, they were planning to have more global villages in three states of US. The Indian Chamber was also exploring opportunity to set up global business village in India. He maintained the chamber was created to expand business opportunities for businesses in United States and promoting trade ties.
