Tata Motors today rolled out its Indica and Indigo models in the South African market. The 1.4 litre KW sedan will be offered in standard and luxury versions.

Ratan Tata, chairman, said: "We are confident that the Indica and the Indigo will be seen to offer superior value to our South African customers."

Both the versions have already been introduced in several overseas markets, including Europe. The company has been selling its medium commercials and buses in South Africa through Tata Autombile Corporation since 1997.

The chairman hoped that the company would expand its presence in South Africa and introduce newer models. A Tata Motors release said that Accordian Investments (Pty) Ltd "" a joint venture between the Imperial Group, Ukhambha Holdings and Tata Africa, which was marketing the Tata pick-up trucks in South Africa, will look after the marketing and distribution of the passenger cars.
