Telecom service providers are aiming to become local navigators for the over 50 lakh bus commuters in Mumbai. |
Reliance Infocomm and Tata Indicom have tied up with Brihanmumbai Electricity and State Transport (BEST) to start a service on their mobile networks that will provide commuters with information on bus routes. |

Tata Indicom will offer its customers a listing of bus routes, frequency, starting and finishing stop information of buses across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai at a Rs 2 per SMS. |

The service from Reliance Infocomm will be provided to Reliance India Mobile (RIM) customers on R World. It will allow stop-to-stop searches and area-to-area searches and other features. |

Reliance Infocomm is also planning to launch a service for airline booking on R World in addition to its flight schedule information service that is already operational. |

"We have launched bus route service for BMTC in Bangalore last month and are in discussion with various city as well as state transport corporations across the city," said Anil Pande, head - enterprise and transaction applications, Reliance Infocomm. |
