IndiGo has revised its cancellation and date change charges for domestic flights and customers will have to shell out Rs 2,250 irrespective of the cancellation date. The change in fee structure comes into effect from Friday. SpiceJet too is evaluating a revision in its cancellation fees and changes are likely from April.
Cancellation fees are treated as an ancillary revenue for airline and hiking it enables carriers to grow its share. IndiGo did not respond to an email query on the topic.

Till now IndiGo levied a fee of Rs 2,250 in case of date change or cancellation of ticket within seven days of departure. For changes beyond seven days the levy was Rs 1,900. Now a flat fee of Rs 2,250 will be collected irrespective of the date.
IndiGo last revised the fee structure in February. Last April it introduced a dynamic policy charging Rs 2,250 for passengers cancelling tickets 2-48 hours before departure. Domestic tickets cancelled 30 or more days in advance were being charged a fee of Rs 1,250 per passenger per segment as per its earlier policy.
