The airlines' first aircraft will arrive by end-June after which flights from Nagpur airport will begin. "Once the aircraft arrives, the flight sectors and their schedules will be decided," sources said.
According to Nagpur airport authorities, the airline has been allotted space in the terminal building for a ticketing office and two check-in counters and for an office in the engineering section, while a decision is yet to be taken on a backup office.
IndiGo is a subsidiary of Delhi-based travel conglomerate InterGlobe Enterprises. The airline is promoted by Rahul Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia managing director of InterGlobe Enterprises.
IndiGo has also acquired three parking slots in Delhi and Mumbai airports and had earlier planned to start operations by February this year.
The airline has also placed a huge order of 100 aircraft - including A319s and A321s - from Airbus Industrie, which will be inducted in a phased manner, sources said.
